The draft horse show of the 2016 Bath County Lions Club Horse Show was held on Saturday evening, July 9th
at the Lions Club fairgrounds in Owingsville, Kentucky. The show is organized and administered by the Eastern Kentucky Draft Horse and Mule Association. There were beautiful blue skies
for the show and the temperature at the 5PM start time was in the mid 80's. The show started with the halter classes and was followed with various driving classes. The judge
was Mr Mike Atkins from the Portsmouth area of southern Ohio. A special silver tray was awarded to the Orme family, the winner of the Farm Wagon class, in memory of Mark Orme
who lost his battle with cancer back in February. Mark was a big supporter of this event and his son Clint was driving the wagon Mark had acquired and had not had the opportunity
to drive prior to his death. After the driving classes were completed, the "fun" classes were held. One class consisted of an obstacle course and the other class was a log pull.
Although the number of competitors at draft horse shows continues to dwindle every year, all who competed seemed to have a great time.
